Eastern Woodland Indians
middle to late 1700's

Personalities from the Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky frontier

Picture of Illustrator Jan Haddox

Better late then never would best describe my becoming a painter. After retirement I decided to combine my interest in history and art with my favorite period in history being the middle to late 1700's. This was a time when so many interesting characters were exploring the new world west of the appalachians. My heroes have always been illustrators such as Howard Pyle, N.C. Wyeth, Maxfield Parish, etc. Most of the paintings are of reinactors that perform on weekends at Fort Randolph in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, others from standing in front of a canvas till the Muse tells me what to paint.
